Al Tariq was originally known as Kool Ass Fashion (Fashion for short) when he got involved with the legendary Beatnuts crew with Psycho Les and JuJu. He was part of their Intoxicated Demons EP, released in 1993. He decided to change his name to Al Tariq after converting to Islam, and went on a solo mission.
