Description

Jazz blossomed in many diverse directions in the 1990s. Renewed interest in jazz during this time led to the return of long-dormant record labels like Blue Note and Impulse. Trumpet player Wynton Marsalis revived traditional jazz values and styles like hard bop while bringing jazz music to fine arts venues like Lincoln Center. Experimental, avant-garde jazz artists expanded jazz's horizons and paved the way for new means of musical expression within the jazz vocabulary.
