Albums in Baroque Period Instruments

Description

Although the design of many musical instruments was improved during the Baroque Era, the instruments played during this time were essentially the same as those used during the Renaissance. Some of those instruments, like the viol and hunting horn, were forgotten as new instruments and improved designs were developed, but during the 1960s and 1970s musicians devoted to Baroque Era music revived interest in these instruments by making recordings of musical works played on original instruments from that era. This collection features Baroque music by composers such as Bach, Couperin and Telemann played on authentic period instruments such as the viola d'amour, viola da gamba, harpsichord, recorder and oboe.
