Description

Critics coined the term "electronica" in the mid 1990s to refer to music made primarily with synthesizers, samplers and drum machines that wasn't necessarily dance music. Whereas most electronic dance music consists of singles put out by nearly anonymous artists, many electronica artists like the Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers, Björk and Moby released full-length albums on major labels and obtained celebrity status by appearing on the covers of rock music magazines. This collection features music ranging from the late 1990s when electronica reached its commercial peak to today's latest electro-clash sensations Fischerspooner and Peaches.
