From the ethereal alternative folk-rock of Sarah McLachlan to the intense riot grrrl punk of Sleater-Kinney, women have become driving forces in all styles of modern music. McLachlan's Lilith Fair, which toured every year between 1996 and 1999, showcased many of today's finest female performers and was one of the most successful touring music festivals ever. The Lilith Fair tour brought together diverse artists like Fiona Apple, Cibo Matto, the Indigo Girls, Lisa Loeb, Luscious Jackson, Sheryl Crow and Nelly Furtado in a unified celebration of female talent.
