Albums in Gospel Of The 60's
Description
Renowned gospel vocalist Mahalia Jackson embodied the spirit of the '60s civil rights movement by using her powerful voice and spiritual messages to influence peaceful change. Gospel music enjoyed immense popularity during this era, as thousands flocked to witness the rousing female harmonies of the Caravans, one of the biggest gospel acts of the early 1960s. The Staple Singers found a new audience on the folk circuit, and Elvis Presley recorded a couple albums of gospel music that performed well on pop charts.
